The Division of Theoretical Electrotechnics was formally established
in 1984 as one of the four divisions of the Institute of the
Fundamentals of Electrotechnics. However, research in that field has
been conducted from the creation of The Technical University of Lodz.
The Department of Fundamentals of Electrotechnics was established by
Prof. Boleslaw Konorski in 1962 within the Electric Faculty.
The four-volume monograph Basis of Electrotechnics written
by Prof. B.Konorski was the first Polish academic book in the
field of electrotechnics after World War II. This book
became an important source of knowledge for many generations of
Polish students in electrical divisions of the majority of Polish
technical universities.
Prof. Maciej Krakowski, the first man who took a doctor's degree in
the Department (in 1956), was the head of the Department
in the years 1963 - 1970. In 1972 he obtained the professor degree.
When the Faculty was reorganized in 1970 the Department of Fundamentals of
Electrotechnics was incorporated into the Institute of Fundamentals of
Electrotechnics and became the Scientific Group of Theoretical Electrotechnics.
Associate Prof. Stefan Wojciechowski became the Head in 1976.
The Division of Theoretical Electrotechnics
was established in 1984. From 1984 to 2015 it was headed by Prof. Michal Tadeusiewicz , and since 2015 by Dr. Stanislaw Halgas. Prof. Michal Tadeusiewicz
was the first in the Faculty of Electrotechnics and Electronics
who received the habilitation degree in the field of theoretical electrotechnics..
